The Radhakrishna Group – Milestones
- 1966 - Radhakrishna & Company was established by Mr. Radhakrishna Sheté as a Marine Caterer / Ship Chandler.
- 1974 - Radhakrishna & Company appointed as the sole commissary supplier to Shipping Corporation of India.
- 1979 - Mr. Radhakrishna Sheté passes away. His son Raju Sheté takes charge at the age of 17 (current Chairman & MD).
- 1982 - Under global competition, the Radhakrishna Group secures the contract for Hitachi Engineering & Construction to feed authentic Japanese cuisine to 350 personnel.
- 1988 - First western style supermarket “Foodland” set up in Mumbai to cater to the needs of retail consumers.
- 1993 - The first foodservice distribution facility set up in India, located in Thane, suburb of Mumbai providing supplies to Industrial & Institutional customers.
- 1993 - McDonald’s awards distribution rights to Radhakrishna Foodland Pvt. Ltd.
- 1995 - A new era as the Radhakrishna Group establishes a joint venture, Radhakrishna Hospitality Services Pvt. Ltd, with Eurest International, now part of the Compass Group Plc of U.K, the world’s largest foodservice organization.
- 1995 - Radhakrishna Hospitality Services Pvt. Ltd., becomes the first contract foodservice to set up its own international training institute in Mumbai to train its own foodservice personnel.
- 1996 - Accor Radhakrishna Corporate Services, a joint venture between the Radhakrishna Group and Accor S.A. of France set up for the business of Ticket Restaurant (Food Vouchers).
- 1997 - McDonald’s awards RFPL the Best Supplier Award in India.
- 1998 - Foodland sets up its second Foodservice Distribution Centre at Noida, near Delhi.
- 2000 - Foodland gears up for its “One-Stop-Shop” foodservice distribution concept. Starts supplies to the commercial and institutional segments in Mumbai.
- 2001 - Foodland sets up a “Knowledge Center” at Thane, Maharashtra.
- 2001 – New transportation & logistics wing, Radhakrishna Foodland Carriers Pvt. Ltd. (RFCPL) established.
- 2002 - UNISOL Infraservices Pvt. Ltd., a facilities management company incorporated.
- 2003 – Warburg Pincus, the world’s leading private equity investor, picks up an equity stake in Radhakrishna Foodland Private Ltd.
- 2003 – Foodland sets up the first state of the art Food Park (Foodservice Distribution Centre), spread across 33,000 sq meters at Kalamboli, Maharashtra for perishable & dry products
- 2004 – A Distribution Centre for dry products, spread across 3,500 sq meters, set up in Kanjur Marg, Mumbai
- 2005 – In December 2005, the first "Foodland Fresh" franchisee, a neighbourhood food and grocery retail store opens.
- 2006 –
A Distribution Centre set up in Bangalore to handle operations in South India.
